If I am given to place something at the feet of greatness
I am worshiping at its foundation.
To study at the feet of a teacher
is to study the steps of instruction.
To leave something at someone's feet, and take it back up later
is to trust it with safekeeping.
To lay my burdens at the feet of Jesus
is not so uncommon a thing to say,
but what if we lay down our affections
and they sit at Jesus feet?
What then do I desire
if all of my desires now worship?
Who's way do I walk
when my desires all study His path?
What changes are forged by this
if I pick desire up from such safe-keeping?
