...don't quit me now.
Language is interesting - this is a plea, a prayer. The phrase is both appropriate to a leader addressing underlings, or to a servant to their master, or even a commandant to a one or to the organization over them.
...abandon not what your hands have built.
The same original phrase, worded differently. not quite the same diversity of appropriate application. a different perspective.
...the works of your hands let not fall.
Closer to the original text. Kind of brings a moment of wonder. maybe a meaning of "endure what you have created", but not quite so dismal.
In context the reference addresses that which is incomplete or basic or under construction after a fashion; an item that is working to be refined, even perfected. Why should we strive to perfection? Why expend our energies toward an absolute and irrefutable standard?
There is only one reason: Perfection is the greatest state that can be achieved. To waste, earn, live, excel, strive toward or accomplish any other goal is to obtain less than absolute, less than the best, and less than potential. No matter how beyond us perfection is, if perfection is not our potential then we are deteriorating.
Deterioration occurs when things become less than what they are. If we only work toward easily obtainable goals then we have created a "good enough" complacency that does not expand our potential and does not grow our abilities. We improve by doing the impossible. A six minute mile. The speed of sound. These were impossibilities that once were. Now it happens every day. Or every day that someone tries.
So now we have two points.
Point 1: Absolutes, Perfection.
Point 2: Surpassing the limits of "impossible".
The phrases "irrefutable standard" and "doing the impossible" seem antonyms unless they describe two different things. They do describe two different things, but we have the complex task of determining what is actually a boundary and what is actually perfection. What is already a proper matter of balance, and what needs to change?
The most important beginning is the matter of absolutes. The best course to steer through, as a metaphor. Once you have a concept of perfection everything else is the impossible that can be changed. The irony of it all is most people consider perfection to be impossible, and choose to live somewhere in the meaningless fog that exists without a standard course. In truth you must set perfection as your ultimate goal, and then alter the impossible to make the stepping stones appear toward perfection.
This is all well and good until someone has a flawed or changeable view of perfection. Then begins to change the wrong boundaries of "impossible" to reach the point of their perfection.
So how do we find the true and universally correct standard of perfection? We observe, extrapolate (or theorize), observe to support of disprove our extrapolation, repeat if necessary, and then compare the results of different standards of "perfection".
So we will assume (with reasonable fact and observation to support) that throughout the towering climaxes and plummeting falls, somewhere the human race has begun to repeat itself over and over again, so perfection is either completely foreign to us or has existed sometime in our past. If true perfection is absolutely foreign to the human race we have a long and very difficult road to travel, so we will assume that somewhere in our attempts to eradicate ourself of the plague we see in our mirror [namely ourselves, frequently in the form of harming our fellows - our brothers and sisters] we have had access to the principles of true perfection at some juncture.
If we had access to Perfection, we just need to find what we did with it. So pick likely candidates from schools of thought. Look through the principles of these schools - not the never ending debates of what the fine details mean, but the effects on the common subscriber, the extremist, and the opponent of each school of thought. Draw a conclusion of what this could look like if it is employed to govern more than about 6000 people. Then find documentation, data, and research about what happened when the school of thought was applied to a large number of people. Compare each school of thought, and then ask which one resulted in the greatest benefit to everyone involved (including opponents). What reached the greatest success in curbing humanity's fascination with destroying itself or those around it, and each individual's tendency for the same?
What is truth? Truth is the answer. Truth is Perfection.

order
Pseudo-random. Meaning false random, which is actually the only random. because all manner of things are affected by their surroundings, affect the future of their surroundings, and are affected by the very sequence of deriving the random. And stuff. Ok i ran out of idea really quick.
But the cat says "me-e-ew" in a cat sort of voice. I dont think she likes the way i rearranged the living room piles of junk. But since she's smaller than most of the stuff and sleeps a lot of the time anyway, she can enjoy her cat-bed. Which i didnt move. Not that it matters - she would rather sniff everything else that is stacked differently than it was last time she sniffed it. I think i'll go edit some of the settings in the control panel.
I dont exist. Until someone opens the box. Unless it is you in the box. Then you would not exist, though a high probability exists that you could be found there. But if you are not there, and i write about you, then you could be there. Even in a way you weren't. Thats called propaganda, or fantasy. The fabrication of a reality that would never have existed if it had not been created. Watching television the other night there seemed to be an extravaganza of really twisted sounding movies that you could watch and implant their really twisted and even grotesque realities into your existance.
So i wonder, does that really benefit me or you as an individual, or us as a society, or the broader greatness of us as the human race? Is the attrocities that occur every hour in our world not enough? Is the potential crumblings of our preceived safeties and security not sufficiently disillusional to our minds? Why does man create? To better himself... or to simply change what was?
How wrong is it to proclaim that we desire peace, justice, and equity and still can find the resources within our clouded and murky souls to finance horrific fantasy in the guise of entertainment. It is a knife with no handle. To hold it is to bleed yourself, to weaken your existance, and to compromise anything good that you are or beleive. And while it is wrong to turn away when horror happens to our friends, our neighbors or our fellow persons on another continent of the globe, We should never watch - We should act. Stand as a leader that can be followed; to prevent a bully beating some kid for lunch money; an organizer to teach the unpriviledged; a humanitarian to bring food and water; a voice to bring truth; a symbol of who we /should/ be. Not a passive degenerate of who we are. If we all try to reach the wholly unattainable goal of perfection, then we will begin to see small improvements in ourselves, in others and we can encourage each other to be true to what is good and not to waste our kindness by hypocrasy, fantastic escapes we conjure to our screens, and just plain passifism. Passivity. Whatever you want to call it. Wrongness. Make the world better, and start with your own brain, your own head. Exist like you mean it to be better. Think and act outside the box.

T-shirt ideas
So: in the pseudo-random world of my mind, occasionally there are generated one-liners of the sort that could be displayed for the sole purpose of generating thought, invoking conversation or avoiding the blankness of a plain t-shirt. These are not good for bumper stickers: they have words. Bumper stickers should only contain pictures or less than about 4 words printed large and in plain lettering. The reason for this is that people generally get annoyed, frightened or otherwise peeved when (as you drive down the road, highway or parking lot) you position your vehicle in such a way as to view their stickers and maintain that attitude for the duration of the time needed to partake of their witticisms, political viewpoints, outrages and humor. If you missed the last sentence, read this carefully: "If someone must tailgate you long enough to cross a small town to read your stickers, the stickers probably shouldn't be visible to the environment around you". Put 'em on the dash so your passengers can appreciate it and not cause a road hazard.
OK. Enough soapboxing. So if you want to know what i was thinking when i logged on to post, it is this:
t-shirt 1:
1984
is your lucky number.
Its watching you everywhere
If you didnt get that, please brush up on your George Orwell then avoid detailed technology news reports dealing with technology so your don't need psych meds. And abstain from repetitious redundancy. And never use a long word when a diminutive one will do.
t-shirt 2:
Take God out of cussing
and put God back in schools
[which is political, and religious, and will with great probability get a responce in a great number of political or religious or educational venues. Since those are great forums of controversy, and rightly so: those arenas shape our present, our perception of the past, and (consequently and most ominously) our future.]
Your fellow humans, your children, and your enemies: these are the greatest things you have at your disposal if you are a member of any society. Choose them well, educate them carefully, and always teach above the level where you falsely think your students are capable. Every person starts out brilliant - please refrain from teaching stupidity. And I'm soapboxing again. Give a person a keyboard and sometimes they just can't stop.

Use your own brain. :)
So after creating this blog last night and posting on it, i gave the url for it to my wife (and didn't tell anything but the url - sometimes i'm a communication minimalist, with all the drawbacks that can create). So she pulls up the blog on her computer, and starts reading. So she says something along the lines of "wow, you found someone who thinks just like you!"
But then she realized the poster was using my own brain.
great fun, and los of laughs. Or rather, lots of laughs. Loss of them would be sad, and not the amusing happiness i inteded to express.

A moment of thought can change nothing: Actions can change eternity.
Why does it take so long to upload 388mb?
Why is raggedy anne's nose triangular?
What if the meaning of life is to ask "why"?
Life is all about the journey. Which is good, since the end lacks a relevant marketing department. Although i like the bit in the bible about "Life which swallows up mortality"(loosely paraphrased). Which means that the mortal aren't really living. Only the Truely Glorified are. Forever wrapped in consuming worship. Thats what Life is all about.
